Head Mrs Yvonne Barry BA, NPQH
Prior to her appointment as Head from September 2008, Yvonne Barry was at the forefront of Kingsmead's successes having led the nationally recognised Behaviour Improvement Programme as well as overseeing the expansion of the sixth form and steering the successful bid for Performing and Visual Arts status. Her educational principles are founded on the firm belief that every student, no matter what their starting point in life, deserves the highest quality education in order to achieve qualifications to pursue their ambitions and maximise their life chances.
Deputies
Ms Kim Pickering BA, NPQH (Senior Deputy)
Kim Pickering has devoted her career to ensuring Kingsmead's students achieve at the highest levels. As a psychologist and mathematician she led the way in developing a range of approaches to learning; introducing the Gifted and Talented Programme and expanding course choices for students at GCSE and in the sixth form. As link deputy for Year 11 and the Sixth form, Kim's responsibilities include the 14-19 curriculum. She is the Lead Behaviour Professional with responsibility for the Behaviour Improvement Team, she works closely with other professionals, both within school and from the Local Authority, to target support for our students. Kim co-ordinates all aspects of external review and inspection and facilitates the Governors Curriculum Committee ensuring Governors are informed on national and school wide curriculum issues.
Mr Peter Plowman MA, MusM, GGSM, ARCM, NPQH
Peter Plowman introduced the Home School Agreement and Learning Mentors programme and as Assistant Head ensured teaching quality through overseeing new staff induction. His responsibilities include oversight of all support staff, school information management sytems, the website and Fronter. He is the link deputy for Years 9 and 10, overseeing the transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 and embeding all aspects of personalising learning within the curriculum. He facilitates the governors' student needs committee and co-ordinates the work of the Learning Directors (years).
Ms Jan Evans MA, GTCL, LRAM, PGCE
Jan Evans has done much to develop student voice at Kingsmead including co-ordinating the student council. Her responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the school's specialism, co-ordinating public events and the school's community links. She is the link deputy for Years 7 and 8 leading curriculum development for Key Stage 3 and preparing for the Creative & Media Diploma to be introduced in 2011. She facilitates non-statutory governors meetings and has responsibility for all aspects of the ECM agenda.
Assistant Heads
Mr John Richardson leads the development of our site as a positive and safe learning environment including police liaison, and all aspects of premises management and supervision.
Mrs Marian Taylor-Schofield leads all aspects of staff professional development including monitoring and evaluation.
Mr Hugh Greany leads all aspects of teaching and learning including initial teacher training and support and new staff induction.
Lead Advanced Skills Teacher
Mr John Quinlan leads the work of our ASTs including co-ordinating outreach work for Enfield Schools.
Aim Higher Co-ordinator
Mrs Maria Motis leads the Aim Higher programme including work-related learning and events promoting pathways to Higher Education.
Students of Marked Aptitude Co-ordinator
Mrs Maroulla Richardson leads the programme designed to raise educational standards and motivation among our most able students.
Bursar
Mrs Andrea Gajadhar leads all facets of administrative and financial management.
