AEN

The Additional Educational Needs Department provides a range of learning support in lessons and in a variety of support groups.

Kingsmead School recognises that it is the right of every student to be educated to their fullest potential by having access to whole curriculum activities whilst any additional educational needs are also met.  The school embraces the concept of inclusion and endeavours to reflect this in our practice when working with students.

The A.E.N. department addresses the particular needs of students by:

  • helping us as an institution recognise and be flexible in responding to a particular or changing pattern of need.
  • ensuring that curriculum developments and departmental policies and Schemes of Work (SoW), reflect AEN policy.
  • supporting colleagues in order to ensure that all students achieve their full potential

The In School Support Centre (ISSC)

The purpose of the ISSC is to provide a short term, alternative working environment for students who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioural difficulties and to support students until they can be reintegrated into mainstream lessons.  Students working in the ISSC will have an individualised learning programme based upon their particular needs.
