Drama Key Stage 3

Programme of Study

Students in Key Stage 3 are assessed and levelled through the following categories.

Speaking & Listening

Discussing the work and issues in the drama lesson

Group Work

Working with others to create and complete work

Performing

Performing their work to an audience

Evaluating

Discussing how drama works and can be improved

Writing

Formally recording their ideas. This could be through creative writing or analytical work

All students at Key Stage 3 have one Drama lesson each week.  These lessons allow students to work with others and achieve their very best and foster an atmosphere of peer support and constructive criticism.

The schemes of work allow students to engage in teacher, peer and self assessment. Each half term students set their own targets to develop and to monitor their own progress.

The schemes of work in Drama seek to teach students about drama across the world and through history. We explore issues and themes as well as teaching a range of drama techniques, skills and genres.

Homework is set in Yr 9 and to allow for differentiation, is set in a All, Most, Some format.  In addition to our work within the curriculum, all Kingsmead students are offered opportunities within the extended-curriculum.
