Drama Key Stage 4

Programme of Study

Students studying GCSE Drama at Kingsmead follow the Edexcel syllabus. The course will undergo changes in teaching from 2009, but the following notes relate to the syllabus currently taught to Yrs 10 and 11. The course is divided as follows

Paper 1 Unit 1 - 30%

Practical exploration of an issue with a supporting written portfolio. Internally assessed and externally moderated

 

Paper 1 Unit 2 - 30%

Practical exploration of a play with a supporting written portfolio.  Internally assessed and externally moderated

 

Paper 2 - 40%

Performance candidates will rehearse and perform either a devised or scripted piece of drama in a group.

Performance support candidates will work with one group to produce an element of the work in either lighting, sound, costume and makeup or set. They must also produce a supporting written portfolio and complete a 5min viva on their work.

Externally assessed by a visiting examiner.
