Kingsmead's extra curricular programme offers opportunities for all students to further interests in many areas.  Here are just a few examples.

Performing and Visual Arts

Dance performance at Millfield TheatreA range of opportunities are offered in Music, Dance, Drama, Media and Art.  An annual Private Viewing is staged by the Art Department featuring the work of GCSE and A level artists.  Drama productions include plays and musicals.  There are Dance displays and Fashion Shows and a number of concerts and recitals featuring soloist and ensembles.  Forthcoming public performances are detailed on the calendar. 

Sports

Teams represent the school in local and regional leagues in a variety of sports including hockey, netball, football, basketball, gymnastics, trampolining and cricket.  There are also clubs for students who want to participate and develop their skills without taking part at a competitive level.  The multi-gym is available with qualified supervision.

Public Speaking

Over a number of years, Kingsmead has participated in a range of debating competitions.  There is an annual competition within the school and Kingsmead students have participated in the Jack Petchey "Speak out Challenge", The Lord Mayor's Debate, and the "Magistrates' Mock Trial Competition".  Students have also attended events at the Houses of Parliament.

Science & Technology

There are opportunities to be involved in a number of ways such as caring for the environment through helping to manage sustainability projects, Science club and ICT club.  The MGT department is staffed on Saturdays to allow GCSE students to give sufficient time to practical manufacturing projects.
