In a   Business collaboration with Food Technology, 200 heart-shaped cookies were baked using Fairtrade ingredients.  These were sold to the Kingsmead community on Valentine’s Day 2008. 

Also, 200 Fairtrade Chocolate-coated Bananas were prepared for Fairtrade Fortnight 2008.

July

Joan Ryan MP15 Business, Economics and Politics students invitated by Joan Ryan MP attended a Fairtrade conference in Parliament hosted by International Development Minister, Douglas Alexander. Students posed impressive questions to the Minister and MP and came away keen to continue their work. 

A level ICT and AS Media students prepared a school recipe book which included Fairtrade recipes from celebrity chefs and was supported by Gordon Ramsay.  Sales of the recipe book raised money for the climate change garden. 

AS Media students prepared a promotional DVD on the importance of Fairtrade and the creation of the Climate Change Garden.

In July, the whole school celebrated its Performing and Visual Arts status.  Students prepared a banquet of food from the recipe book for guests Joan Ryan MP for Enfield North, Andy Love MP for Edmonton, Bill Linton for Enfield Fairtrade and Anna Loughlin from the London Borough of Enfield Fairtrade Steering Group.

In recognition of commitment to Fairtrade, two Kingsmead students atended celebrations of Enfield's official Fairtrade status at Capel Manor in the presence of the Mayor for Enfield, Lee Chamberlain.
