At the end of the summer term, 45 Year 7 students along with Head of Year Mr. Pieri, learning mentor Mr Sohoye, Deputy Head of Year Ms Carter, Parent Support Advisor Ms Wilkinson and new Deputy Head of Year Ms West enjoyed a trip to Ripley’s Believe it or Not London Odditorium.
Situated in the heart of the West End in Piccadilly Circus Year 7s were astonished, astounded and amazed by over 800 authentic, original and unbelievable exhibits spread over 5 floors.
Year 7s particularly enjoyed the animated T-Rex and a replica model of the Titanic made of matchsticks. The mirror maze proved popular and confusing while some Year 7s stood next to a life size model of the world’s tallest ever man. Those with an interest in Science were amazed by the moon rocks and mars meteorites on show while the spinning vortex provided a stomach churning experience for others.
For many of the Year 7s it was their first time in the heart of London and once the group completed seeing all that Ripley’s Odditorium had to offer, the group made their way to Trafalgar Square.
There was also an opportunity to see Van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting at the National Gallery and the group took the opportunity to see one of the art world’s most famous paintings.
It was a trip which came about to reward wonderful individuals in what was a successful first year at Kingsmead and it proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable day where fun was had by all.
Special thanks to Ms Carter who organised the trip and to Mr Sohoye who actually won the tickets for Ripley’s Odditorium!
Here’s to more trips in the future!
