Outstanding Academy Update

Dear Parents,

Further to my letter of 6th July 2010, I am delighted to be able to tell you that Secretary of State for Education, Mr. Michael Gove, M.P. has accepted our application to be an 'outstanding academy.'  We are now in the process of ensuring a smooth transition to this new status and I anticipate that by October this will be confirmed.

As an 'outstanding academy' I am confident that Kingsmead will build on its established strengths, develop new ones and flourish still further.  I believe that 'outstanding academy' status will see standards continue to rise and give us greater flexibility and freedom.  Our exam results in August were evidence of Kingsmead being a top performing school and I am certain that as an 'outstanding academy' the success of our school and its students will only increase.

If you have any queries or concerns about the new arrangements I would welcome your comments.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Y Barry

New Year 7 Students - Personal Details Form

Can we remind any parent of a new Year 7 student that if you have not already done so, you must return the Personal Details Form as a matter of urgency.  Your child should give the form to their form tutor on the first day of term or alternatively hand it in to staff in the main school office.  The Personal Detail Form is essential in order for us to contact you in the event of an emergency and to keep you informed about important school events, so it is vital you return it to us as soon as possible.

Congratulations to the students of Year 11, 2010 on their superb record-breaking achievement in obtaining Kingsmead's best ever GCSE results and by a considerable margin.  These results are a testament to the positive attitude and hard work of the year group and the talented staff who tutored them.  We look forward to welcoming students from Kingsmead Year 11 and elsewhere into our largest ever Year 12 in September 2010.
