Media Studies looks at the world of the mass media. Students study films, TV, radio, Internet, Newspapers and Magazines and learn to apply media concepts to media texts such as Media Language, Institution, Audience and Representation. They also learn practical skills of research, pre production skills such as storyboarding and production logs and various camera, photography, ICT design skills to make media artefacts for their coursework folders. They also have an exam on a different media topic each year (previous topics have included the Music Press, Quiz Shows and Comics)

There are 3 coursework assignments:
1 introductory assignment
2 cross media assignment
3 practical production
Exam:
"Investigating the media" a pre-released topic with guidance and stimulus that will change every year. This exam will set two tasks: one testing knowledge and understanding of the topic; the second testing planning, research, production and evaluation.
