We would like to extend a very special congratulation to two outstanding Year 12 students, Spencer Jevon and Christiana Langma who have both just won 'The Princess Diana Award' for young people who inspire the lives of others. The award has a very strict criteria and whilst we were hoping that one of our nominated students would win, we never imagined that both of them would and we are absolutely thrilled!
The organisation stated
'We were delighted to receive these nominations....the assessors were really impressed with them and particularly thought that Spencer and Christiana were excellent role models and their nominations really did have the wow factor that we were looking for.'
The students will now attend the National Award Ceremony to be held at Barclays Bank's commercial headquarters in Canary Wharf in July.
Well done to Spencer and Christiana for this amazing achievement. |

The Drama department recently hosted a visitor from Japan. Nobuko Okamoto observed lessons as she shadowed PGCE students from Middlesex University. Middlesex University is developing its links with Japan as the Japanese government is keen to develop Drama in Education in their schools. Kenneth Taylor, Subject Leader in Drama in Education at Middlesex wrote to Mrs Barry to thank Kingsmead for hosting their visitor and to say how delighted he is with the way the partnership between Kingsmead and Middlesex University is developing. |

The History Department have announced the selection of two Year 13 students, Helen Upcraft and Abby Clark from 7 highly worthy applicants to represent Kingsmead in the Holocaust Educational Trust's "Lessons From Auschwitz" project. It involves students in a whole day visit to Auschwitz to take place in May this year, as well as two half day seminars (before and after the visit). One of the conditions of the project is that students disseminate what they have learned when they return: we will be suggesting they might prepare an assembly.
Further details of this important educational project can be seen here. |

Kingsmead has a number of talented athletes who represent their discipline in the national and international arenas.
Ms Wilson, Head of Year 10 brings us this update of Charlie St. Leger's achievements.
Kingsmead is proud to have a successful gymnast in Year 10. Charlie St Leger started competing when he was just seven years old, with his first National Final when he was nine. He represented London and gained a third place ranking.
He then represented London for the following five years, and has represented the Borough of Enfield twice in the London Youth Games. Charlie specializes in the pommel rings and vault, training for seventeen hours a week at the East London Gym Club, on top of studying towards success in his GCSE exams.
He will next be competing in the Pegasus Open in June and the British Championships in November.
Good luck, Charlie! |
