Last half term Year 8 were treated to an informative assembly by the school’s learning mentors, Ms. Davoli and Mr Sohoye. The assembly focused on healthy eating and how eating a well balanced, nutritious diet can help with school work and help with achieving their potential.
The assembly also introduced a recipe book that every Year 8 student was given.
To follow up this positive message the Year team organised a picnic behind the school field.
With healthy eating the theme of the event, students were encouraged within their form groups to organise the food and drink that would be brought in. This also generated a sense of togetherness and working collaboratively, as a result the picnic was an outstanding success, helped in no small measure by the sunny conditions.
What was especially pleasing was the diversity of healthy food that was on display with many students also bringing in food that reflected their different cultural backgrounds.
Learning Director of Year Mr Pieri would like to thank the Maths and English departments who allowed the students to take part during what would have been their lessons, the learning mentors, teaching assistants, tutors and Deputy Learning Director Miss West who made it all a worthwhile event.
