The Kingsmead Theatre was chosen by the BBC as the venue for the first broadcast in 2009 of the prestigious radio programme, 'Any Questions' presented and chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby.
On Friday January 9th, 2009, Kingsmead School had the honour of hosting the famous Radio 4 political debate forum, 'Any Questions', presented by Jonathan Dimbleby. In the programme, which has been running for 60 years, a panel of high-profile public figures respond to questions presented by members of the audience. The panelists were:
The Right Honourable Tony McNulty MP, Minister for Employment and London
Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice
Sarah Teather, MP Housing spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats
A.N. Wilson, author and columnist
'Any Questions' was broadcast live from the Kingsmead Theatre at 8:00pm on Friday 9th January and repeated at 1:15 on Saturday 10th January. The audience included governors, staff, parents and students as well as members of the local community. Among the questions selected were one from a Kingsmead teacher and one from a sixth form student. The BBC production team praised the efficient and courteous front of house support provided by Kingsmead's A level Media students and commented on the outstanding theatre facility. We all appreciate the excellent organisation of this event by Ms Stevenson.
