For the first time at Kingsmead, over the October half term holiday, Ms Kane, Ms Ali-Khan and Mr Kozah led a group of 35 students to New York for an amazing Performing Arts tour!
Following a 7 hour flight and checking in at their hotel close to Madison Square Garden, the party had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp, a Forrest Gump themed restaurant in the heart of Times Square. Upon seeing the bright lights of Times Square everybody gasped, it was so mesmerising!
On the second day everyone enjoyed a 4 hour walking tour around Manhattan and went on a cruise around the Hudson river where they got to see the world famous Statue of Liberty (aptly nicknamed Libby by the students!). The next day was their theatre-packed day, when students got to take part in a workshop with a Broadway performer from the show 'Wicked.' The students were also taken to a singing diner and went to Planet Hollywood. Finally they went to see an evening performance of 'Wicked' where they could spot their workshop leader, Jonathan as one of the characters in the show. The final day was all about shopping in the heart of NYC and by the time they arrived at the airport for their homeward bound journey, everyone was completely shattered and slept on the flight back.
The trip was a truly fantastic, breathtaking experience! Ms Kane says the students behaviour was exemplary and they were a pleasure to be around. As one student commented, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity! |
