We are delighted to announce that Sixth Former, Amy Rowley has been publicly honoured with a Princess Diana Award.
The Diana Award was established iin 1999 as a lasting legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales' belief that young people have the power to change the world.
Amy received the Diana Award for being a Courageous Citizen as despite having a degenerative eye condition that means she is registered partially sighted, she does not see this as a barrier to high attainment. Amy is currently studying for A Levels in Media, English Language and Photography and is hoping to read for a degree in Journalism in the future.
In addition to her academic studies, Amy is an active member of the Sixth Form. She fund raises for many charities, helps Year 7 students to develop their reading skills and has recently applied for a volunteering position through the Youth Action Volunteer Enfield (YAVE) group to work on the Borough's youth magazine, 'Delirium.'
Amy's eye condition is heriditary and both her mum and brother suffer from the condition, so Amy also devotes a great deal of time and energy to supporting them, as well as doing household chores for an elderly aunt!
Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Young says: 'Amy refuses to see the negative, even in difficult situations. She is a thorougly selfless individual who despite her serious medical condition is heart warmingly positive.' |
