Favourite sporting moment in history: Watching the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games on my black and white television, especially seeing David Hemery win the 400metre hurdles gold medal in a world record time - it doesn't get any better than that for a sports person! I had just started secondary school and this really motivated me to take up athletics.
Proudest sporting achievement: Winning the National Youth Cross Country title at Sutton Coldfield in 1972.
Proudest teaching achievement: I have several but the most recent one was in 2008 at Enfield and Winchmore Hill Hockey Club's End of Season dinner. Arriving late I was greeted by Mohammed Yasin who wanted his picture taken with me and his Player of the Year trophy. Mohammed said to me 'You got me into this sport Sir.' Moments like that when students carry their sporting interests and activities outside of school and after they leave are really rewarding. |
