6th Form Students win the prestigious "Princess Diana Award"
We would like to extend very special congratulations to 2 OUTSTANDING Year 13 students – Spencer Jevon and Christiana Langma - who last year won "The Princess Diana Award for young people who inspire the lives of others". The award has very strict criteria and while we hoped one of our nominated student would win – we are absolutely delighted that BOTH of them have won.
The organisation stated "We were delighted to receive these nominations …. the assessors were really impressed with them and particularly thought that Spencer and Christiana were excellent role models and the nominations really did have that "WOW" factor that we were looking for".
The students attended the National Award Ceremony in July at Barclays Bank Commercial Headquarters in London’ Canary Wharf.
Special thanks to Staff and the 2 Year 9 students who gave in testimonials to support the nominations.
Well done Christiana and Spencer – they have set the pace for others to follow

Kingsmead Student Honoured at Princess Diana Awards Launch
Barclays Bank has joined forces with the Princess Diana Awards group to launch an initiative to support young people who have shown outstanding qualities by their involvement in the community; preparing them for the transition into the world of work through workshops.
It was therefore a major surprise that Spencer Jevon was chosen from hundreds of winners by this international corporation to attend the prestigious launch in Piccadilly, London of “Hive” an online network for Princess Diana Award’s holders across the UK. The Bank was so impressed by Spencer’s academic and community achievements, that instead of simply calling him up to receive his awards, there was an unexpected 5 minutes oration outlining Spencer’s amazing achievements. Not only has Spencer obtained top grades at Advanced Level in ICT, Maths and Psychology, he has also written an ICT guide on internet safety for young users.
Spencer recounts his experience “I thought it would be a brief mention of my achievements, then collect my certificate and badge and get back down again; instead it turned out to be a 5 minutes discourse of my life. I was in total shock and awe. Thankfully I didn’t have to make a speech. The evening ended with drinks and canapés – all provided by the Barclays Staff. It was a wonderful evening and well worth it”.
