Kingswood Activity Centre - Grosvenor Hall

On the 3rd September 2010 our new Year 12 students took part in an energetic day trip at Grosvenor Hall, a Kingswood Activity Centre, in Kent.

Battling to scale climbing walls, hang from ropes and leap off platforms – they showed us what they were made of!

This fun-filled, action packed trip successfully enabled students to integrate into their new forms and for their Tutors to get to know them.

The variety of activities experienced allowed all students to show their different personal strengths; and included many physical and challenging activities, such as abseiling, outdoor laser, rock climbing and archery. All activities involved group participation and team building; students cheered on members of their form and gripped onto each other for support.

Over the duration of the day students learnt new skills and tried out activities for the first time. They also developed practical skills for use in the 6th form, and soon learnt that ‘failure is not an option’, as they were encouraged to succeed at every task.

“I discovered I can do anything I put my mind to”

“Always try something and don’t give up if you can’t do it the first time”

“The things you think you cannot do…with support they become easier”

One of the most positive benefits of this residential trip was for students in the 6th Form who are new to Kingsmead School. This trip helped to support them with their transition from one school to another.

“I feel like a Kingsmead student now”

We hope that next year’s students will be equally as enthusiastic as our current group as we eagerly look forward to our next excellent activity adventure trip.
