Felted Animal Mask Workshop

Students from Alma, George Spicer, Oakthorpe and Southbury Primary Schools joined us for four separate workshops to make Felted Animal Masks. The students used fleece to create their masks which they covered with netting and hessian, they then added hot soapy water to aid the setting process. Once set, the netting and hessian are removed to reveal the students very own creation of felt. This workshop gave the students an opportuntiy to explore different materials and the process it goes through.

Comment from Year 6 student from Alma Primary School - "My best part of the activity was when we were felting. I really enjoyed it because we were getting soaked playing about with soapy water - still doing work. However, we do not get to do this at our school". "I have learned how to make felt and where felt comes from - I've learnt the facts about fleece too".

A fun day was had by all!
