On Tuesday 16th December, Kingsmead Music Department presented 'The Christmas Rose' by Peter Canwell. Through songs, the show told the story of Rachel, an inn-keeper's daughter who finds herself in the middle of the Christian Nativity story. Mainly performed by Key Stage 3 students, the majority of lead roles were played brilliantly by students in Years 7 and 8. These students were supported admirably by a handful of helpers from Key Stage 4 and 5 both on stage and off stage. The performance was subsequently repeated on Wednesday 17th December for an audience of over 240 primary school pupils from Bush Hill Park and George Spicer and both teachers and pupils received it enthusiastically.
