AQA GCSE Art & Design (Textile Design) 4204
Students undertake three projects which make up the 60% coursework element (Portfolio of Work). For each project students will complete a sketchbook of design work and a final piece.

A summary of the course
Year 10—Autumn Term Fruit – Experimental Textiles
Students begin by drawing fruit in a variety of different mediums and this will lead to an introduction to new textile techniques such as embroidery, appliqué, batik, weaving and pattern making.
Year 10—Spring & Term Portraits
Students look at the work of various portrait artists and make drawings of people and faces. Students experiment with a variety of textile skills like felt making and fabric painting and produce a textile piece based on portraits.
Year 10 & 11—Summer & Autumn Term Fashion Project—Decorative Style
Students look at the work of decorative artists like Gaudi, Kilmt and Hundertwasser. Students research body adornment and create a fashion outcome which could be a scarf, hat or dress. Students research fashion designers for inspiration.
Year 11 – Spring Term Controlled Test
Students receive an exam question paper at the start of the Spring Term in Year 11. Students produce preparation work based on the exam question you choose. A final piece is produced during test conditions in the Textiles room. The exam is 10 hours long.
