On March 2nd Ms.Dowd and Ms.Charalambous took 20 Year 11 and 12 Biology students to an open lecture in Imperial College London.
They were captivated by a lecture delivered by Daniel M. Davis, a professor of Immunology at Imperial who has written a book called ‘The Compatibility Gene’.
He looked at how an individual’s genetic make-up helps them respond to disease and helped us to understand the science behind what makes us attracted to someone and how that links to variation and Natural Selection!
The students were very excited to link several concepts from the lecture to their own learning and had a very interesting discussion with the Chair of Friends of Imperial afterwards!’
