Kingsmead Cup Final Fever – “We’re on our way to Wembley”! - By Naz (EKS) Daha (NRM) and Harold (DMS)
"The Senior Football Team had been enjoying a fantastic run in the Brough Championship; having reached the Semi Finals, they skipped onto the pitch with confidence, convinced they were coming away with a win. The first half started off strongly but a momentarily lapse in concentration cost them dearly; they were in shock - 1:0 to Southgate. With no time to regroup the Kingsmead Senior Team conceded a second goal and it looked as though it was all over!
In stepped Mr Norris who gave them a “Coach Carter” motivating speech, demanding that they picked themselves up, backed by Captain Harold Beckles, who believed “We can still do this”. The second half started with a flurry as Naz won a penalty which was sweetly converted from the spot by Daha; the comeback was on the cards. A spectacular cross from a corner whipped in by Lewis landed timely on the head of Isaac, top corner header – 2:2 – game on - extra time!
As the tired legs gave up, the determination of the team swept away the fatigue – they were running on willpower when Sachon rose to the occasion and buried the ball in the back of the net – 3:2 Kingsmead in the lead for the first time in the match. The pressure was relentless, winning a free kick meant that Daha could put the game beyond reach but the ball sailed over the fence – a complete failure. Refusing to lie down and running on empty, Daha redeemed himself when a cross came his way he launched into it leaving the goalkeeper the job of picking the ball up from the back of the net. Kingsmead 4 Southgate School 2 – Game Over!
Brough Championship finals is set for 2 weeks’ time at Enfield Grammar – we await our opponents – Silverware beckons – Come on Geezers!"

Year 7 Boys Football
The Year 7 Boys have got off to a flying start to the second half of the season. After the winter lay off their first game was at home to Broomfield. The boys made a solid start and grew in confidence as the game went on. They played some nice football. Passing the ball round and taking the Broomfield team on. They eventually finished the game 5-1 winners.
The second game was against Oasis Hadley again at home. The boys got off to a flying start and quickly went two goals up. They continued the strong start and eventually finished the first half 3 – 0 up. The boys started the second half even better and within ten minutes were 6-0 up. The Oasis boys kept trying to battle on and to their credit they pulled three goals back. The final score finishing 6-3 to Kingsmead School. The boys played fantastic with some strong individual performances as well as the collective. The boys should also be congratulated on the exemplary manner with which they conducted themselves during both victories, winning graciously.
