On Thursday the 11th May, Year 7 boys played their Championship deciding game. Having topped their league they faced Chace School, the winners of the opposite league.
The game was played at Enfield Grammar on their new 3G pitch with an official ref. Both teams have had high scoring seasons and it promised to be an exciting game. The teams were tense and the game started with a high paced action right from kick off. Chace scored first through an amazing volley. Kingsmead boys dug in and Connor scored an excellent goal to get us back on level terms. This was to be the pattern of the whole match. Through excellent quality football, determination and fitness, the game ebbed and flowed with Chace scoring twice more. Kingsmead worked hard to grab equalisers each time, using team work and flashes of individual brilliance. With only 4 minute left to play, Chace scored again, Kingsmead boys threw everything they had at the game but just couldn’t quite find the net. The final score finishing 4-3.
The boys are to be congratulated on their conduct, effort levels and determination, they should rightly walk away proud of what they have achieved (and their medal) in their first season together. Coming second in the Enfield league is no mean achievement. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with all of them.
