Designed by the Tim Foster Architects and opened in October 2007, Kingsmead's theatre is an intimate space for assemblies, performances and presentations. It has comfortable raked seating for 280 with excellent sightlines meaning that performers and audience alike feel closely involved with the presentation.
The theatre has featured in London's Open House Weekend on a number of occasions and as well as being an excellent addition to Kingsmead's outstanding facilities for the performing arts, it is also available for hire to local community groups.
The Theatre will be known to viewers of Sky TV's televison programme 'Hairspray: the School Musical' because it was here that Denise van Outen launched the amazing project featuring Kingsmead students in July 2008. The Theatre has also been host to BBC Radio 4's flagship political debate programme, "Any Questions?" hosted by Jonathan Dimbleby in January 2009.
Details of forthcoming public performances can be found in the Specialist Status section, Forthcoming Events, in the calendar on this website and are published in the school newsletter.
