Mr Butcher and I took 11 students from Years 7, 8 and 9 to JCoSS School in Barnet.
As a school, we were kindly invited to take part in their ‘Inter faith tent’ event, for the second year running. The theme this year was ‘Anti-Semitism and Anti-Muslim Hate’.
Students were part of a group workshop with guest speakers from two anti-hate charities. There was a proud moment of victory for Kingsmead when our students won the religious quiz! They also had the opportunity to meet and speak with students at JCoSS to share and reflect on their differing, and sometimes similar, school and life experiences.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and students of JCoSS and given a tour of the school. It was an extremely worthwhile visit; the students were excellent representatives for Kingsmead School.
Just when we thought the trip was over and we were waiting for our minibus to return to Kingsmead School, we were approached by an escaped dog called Bunty! Mr Butcher called Bunty’s owner and stayed with her until she was safely returned to her dog walker – despite protests from the students wanting to keep her as the school mascot!
