A Kingsmead student researches their future subjects to make an informed choice. Year 8s are being given the responsibility to state a preference for some of the courses that will you study in Years 9, 10 and 11. These preference assemblies are designed to help you make informed decisions.
The Learning Director of each subject gives information about the content of the GCSE and links to careers.

There are many people who can help you decide: your parents and other family members; your form tutor; your subject teachers and Learning Director of Year. Talk to as many people as possible and listen to their advice.
CORE SUBJECTS- These are all 3-year course with the exam in Year 11. English, Maths and Science are core subjects and all students take these. The Learning Directors of departments of these subjects outlay the expectations below.
You will also continue taking core PE which is not examined. It can also be taken as an additional GCSE
You will also start your 3 year RE GCSE which is examined in Year 11
You will continue with History and Geography in Year 9 but you choose one to specialise in year 10. You do have the option to pick both.
You will continue with the language that you are currently studying. You also have the option to choose Latin or take a GCSE in your community language.
