Change to Timings of the School Day

Dear parents/carers.

As we swiftly approach the ‘return to school’ I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support you have given us during this challenging period. Thank you for the feedback you have provided that has allowed us to adapt and improve our online delivery to our children. We are now excitedly preparing for their physical return and are working hard to ensure they are welcomed, reassured and supported during the whole process.

I am writing to let you know that as of Wednesday 10th March the timings of the school day will return to those that have been used in school since September. You can see from the table below that years 9,10 and 11 follow a different timetable to years 7,8,12 and 13. This was established in September in school to ensure we are operating in a COVID safe way.

Timings of School Day

Why is the school returning to these timings from Wednesday 10th March?

From Tuesday 9th March different year groups will be returning to school on different days (previous letter sent by Mr Medway). This means that teachers will be teaching some lessons face to face and some online (blended learning). In order to prevent class clashes the timetable needs to revert to its original format.

What does this mean for my child?

This means that your child will be starting their online school day at 8.30 (as they would in school). This also means that the times of their other lessons, form time, break and lunch will be different as outlined in the schedule reminder above.

What can I do to help?

Please go through the timetable above with them and perhaps get them to copy it out on some paper to keep by their desk/work table as it will take a few days to remember the timings (and we don’t want them to miss out on any of their lessons or tutor time etc).

Please continue to talk to your child about how they feel about their return to school.

Please help them to adjust by getting them to wake up a little earlier each day to avoid a huge shock to their system when they return on that first day.

Please send any queries to enquiries@kingsmead.org

Kindest regards,

Julian Kozah

Assistant Headteacher
