Dear Parent/Carer,
We are writing to inform you of some changes that will be taking place from next week in an effort to ensure students leave our school site and go home as quickly as possible at the end of the school day.
Currently, the older years are dismissed before the younger years which means that a number of students wait on the gate for their siblings. So, from next week, we will be dismissing the younger years before the older years as outlined below:
- Year 7 and 8 will be dismissed at 3.10pm and will go straight home, or wait in the South Playground for their older siblings to collect them if they are going home together.
- Year 9,10, 11, 12 and 13 will be dismissed at 3.20pm.
- All students are expected to go straight home. This means that they should not wait for students who are in detention or stay on Southbury Road or the surrounding area.
- Detentions will run as usual.
- We would also like to make it clear that any student seen talking to non-Kingsmead students outside of school will be sanctioned. If they wish to meet friends, they must do so well away from the school site.
Our students’ safety is of paramount importance to us which is why we are taking these measures.
Senior members of staff will continue to be on the gate at the end of the day to ensure the smooth running of the new dismissal arrangements.
Please can we ask that you make sure your child understands these expectations.
