I am aware that many of you will have heard about the COVID-19 outbreak and I am sure that you may be concerned about the health of your families. This is especially likely to be the case given how much media attention the illness is receiving.
I would like to emphasise that official advice is that the risk to individuals remains low and that the illness would only likely have any serious effect on those with weakened immune systems. That said, I can assure you that the school is working very closely on a daily basis to assess any potential risk and we will always follow official advice.
The advice we are following is regularly updated and I would encourage you to follow the links on the Public Health England (PHE) website:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public -which offers sensible and unbiased information to anyone who may be worried.
Until otherwise instructed by Public Health England, all normal school activities will continue, including trips.
The advice we have been given is to focus on the following:
- before leaving home
- on arrival at school
- after using the toilet
- after breaks and sporting activities
- before food preparation
- before eating any food, including snacks
- before leaving school
We would very much appreciate your support in repeating this advice to your children while they are at home.
