Thank you for your continued support. Thank you for using the school only in the last resort so that our students can stay safe and we can support the NHS as much as possible with the staff who are well enough to come in.
We are receiving lots of enquiries about the summer examinations from both parents and students and we would like to keep you updated. We have been informed that this will be based on predicted grades, combined with other ‘relevant data,’ for example prior attainment. Exam boards hope to publish these grades before the end of July. If a student is unhappy with their result, they will have the right to appeal and they will also have the option of taking examinations early in the next academic year or in Summer 2021 if they wish. Be aware that none of this is yet confirmed and we will update you as soon as we know more from the Government.
Some people have heard in the news that some schools are setting additional assessments. We will not be doing this at Kingsmead. At this point of the year, teachers know their students well and have lots of assessment data to inform any decision we might have to make. We suggest that Year 11 and Year 13 students continue to work through work set on the VLE. Year 11 students will certainly want to keep up to date with subjects they are studying in our Sixth Form.
Due to staff absence and the clear message not to leave the house until strictly necessary, PLR3 will be postponed until further notice. This is because lots of assessments are in school and we can only call in teachers who we need in to supervise the children of critical workers.
Please read the weekly bulletin which will detail the work for each subject, and which also includes a comprehensive extra-curricular programme for students to complete at home. Teachers are available to support students via the VLE and School e-mail.
With best wishes to you and your families,
Mr D Rogers
