Re: Partial Closure (Years 8 & 9)
I mentioned in my letter on Friday that it may be necessary to partially close the school to some year groups if enough adults are unable to come to work.
We had very little problem with this until the restrictions on entire households came into place yesterday. After that, despite not having symptoms, a larger number of my colleagues have had to stay at home.
As a result, I am asking for Year 8 and Year 9 students to stay at home from tomorrow (18th March) to ensure that those we are still teaching directly can be safely looked after here. We will be loading work on to the VLE for students to access at home.
My apologies if this affects your ability to work.
In addition, we have also taken the difficult decision to cancel centralised detentions and all after school clubs/ interventions for the remainder of the week too.
Thursday has always been an INSET day on our calendar. I considered changing that, but I have decided that my colleagues need the time to prepare resources for what is a probable closure of all schools in the near future. It is better to be able to provide as high a quality of resources as possible during that period than have a short-term gain.
The good news so far is that I am not aware of any child or adult at Kingsmead having displayed any serious symptoms and that those who are at home are there for precautionary reasons.
If we do fully close, then we will provide you with further information on how we will try to continue to educate our children.
Please ensure you follow our twitter account @KingsmeadAc, or visit the school website for the latest updates.
As always, if you need anything, please do contact the school at email@example.com.
