Parents should be aware that the Department for Education (DfE) has amended the legal regulations governing requests for holidays in term time.
With effect from September 2013, amendments to the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 make it clear that Head Teachers MAY NOT GRANT HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME unless there are exceptional circumstances. This will be at the Head Teachers discretion.
Also, from September 2013 the DfE has amended the Education (Penalty Notices) (England) Regulations 2007, so that any parent who receives a Penalty Notice for taking their child out of school during term time will have to pay £60 within 21 days or it will increase to £120 within 28 days.
May we remind parents that if a family holiday is taken during term time or if students do not return to school at the beginning of the term we will advise you in a letter that your child may be taken off the school roll. It is parents' legal responsibility to ensure their child/children attend(s) school. If a student is absent from school a parent or carer MUST ring our attendance line every day the student is absent. The number is: 020 8351 5003

As with phone calls, please email as soon as possible on the first day of absence and every day that the student is absent. When your child returns to school they MUST bring a note from home explaining their absence.
Cases of persistent absence will be referred to SEAAS our Attendance Advisory Service, which discharges the school's statutory responsibility in relation to school attendance (The Education Act 1996).
