Our Senior Team is made up of the Head, four Deputy Heads, three Assistant Heads, a Senior Leadership Team Member, five Associate Assistant Heads plus our Bursar.
Head Mrs Yvonne Barry BA, NPQH
Prior to her appointment as Head from September 2008, Yvonne Barry was at the forefront of Kingsmead's successes having led the nationally recognised Behaviour for Learning programme (formerly Behaviour Improvement Programme) as well as overseeing the expansion of the sixth form and steering the successful bid for Performing and Visual Arts status. Her educational principles are founded on the firm belief that every student, no matter what their starting point in life, deserves the highest quality education in order to achieve qualifications to pursue their ambitions and maximise their life chances. Recently Yvonne has become a National Leader of Education and Kingsmead is now a National Support School which enables us to assist other schools locally and nationally to maximise their potential.
Mr Peter Plowman MA, MusM, GGSM, ARCM, NPQH (Senior Deputy)
Peter Plowman leads on school accountability including Ofsted inspections and consultant reviews. He introduced the Home School Agreement and Learning Mentors programme and as Assistant Head ensured teaching quality through overseeing new staff induction. His current responsibilities include leading on external and internal scrutiny, school information management systems, the website and Firefly. He is the link deputy for Years 9 and 10 and oversees the selection of preferences for GCSE courses. He co-facilitates the Governors' Scrutiny Committee.
Mr Hugh Greany BA, NPQH
Hugh is the lead behaviour professional and Senior Child Protection Officer. He has responsibility for Behaviour for Learning at Kingsmead and has overall responsibility for the inclusion department. Hugh leads the Teaching and Learning team, he facilitates the governors teaching and learning committee and has overall responsibility for new staff training and marking across the school. He links to the maths department, the sixth form and has overall responsibility for support staff development and appraisals as well as teacher cover systems.
Mr David Medway: BA, MA
David has worked in several senior leadership teams. His experience includes establishing a new Sixth Form for a Hackney school, then going on to lead on raising 14-16 progress; restarting a school in Brent and developing the curriculum and assessment in a Hertfordshire school. David is link Deputy for Year 11, responsible for the quality of assessment and for ensuring all students make excellent progress. He also has oversight on the support for SOMA students and BTEC.
Miss Gen Mitchell: BA. PGCE. PGCert Coaching & Mentoring. NPQH
Gen has worked as an Assistant Head in charge of Key Stage 3, Transition and Options and was Head of Secondary/Deputy Head of Whole School of a bilingual school in Germany.
Gen is the link Deputy Head for Years 7 with Rachel Shann, Assistant Headteacher & Year 8 with Clare Emerson Associate Assistant Head.
Gen is Raising Standards Leader and Co-Lead of the Teaching and Learning Team (with Mr Greany Deputy Head) responsible for the quality of learning throughout the school. Gen is co-facilitator of the Governors´ Teaching and Learning’ Committee.
Gen, responsible for student voice with the DLDYs, is keen to enhance student voice and leadership opportunities through the Student Year and School Councils.
Mrs Marian Taylor-Schofield leads all aspects of staff professional development including monitoring and evaluation.
Ms Rachel Shann leads on monitoring, improving and sharing best practice of teaching and learning and the effectiveness and development of home learning.
Mr Metin Ali leads the development of our site as a positive and safe learning environment including police liaison, and all aspects of premises management and supervision. Metin will also monitor and evaluate enrichment activities and Work Related Learning.

Mrs Maroulla Richardson - (Students of Marked Aptitude Co-ordinator) leads the programme designed to raise educational standards, to motivate and ensure our most able students fully utilise the opportunities open to them.
Associate Assistant Heads
AAHs will model best practice in teaching and learning, assessment and scrutiny and have a significant role in leading the continual improvement of the school.
