Mentoring Programmes

Kingsmead Sixth Form works with a wide array of educational programmes and institutions to help the students develop upon their skills and knowledge.

Mentoring programmes such as Realising Opportunities and Arts Emergency not only support our students with deciding on what career path is right for them but also offers aid in how they can achieve their goals and aspirations.

Our students have had some fantastic experiences with each programme and highly recommend them to future students.

Summer Schools and Taster Courses

  • LSE – Allison Weatherfield – Law Course with lectures and a mentor
  • UCL – Maths Workshops
  • Realising Opportunities: Summer School as part of two year programme focused on learning key study skills and preparing for university. Also results in potential lowered entry grades for top universities such as Warwick and UCL.
  • Futures First: Summer school as part of two year programme featuring also mentoring, workshops and trips to different university campus.
  • Sutton Trust-American University programme: The chance to learn about studying in America, and to have a summer school in America
  • Med View/Dent View: insights into medical professions
  • Taster days for Anthropology, Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Midwifery available at top universities such as Brunel, Queen Marys, Kings and UCL.
  • Law: Inner Temple Workshop, students had the chance to visit the inner temple in London and complete workshops there where they learnt about careers associated with the law.
  • Debate Chamber Summer Schools
  • Morgan Stanley insight day (Investment banking/finance)
  • St Georges Medical School: Spring School, insight in the spring holidays into the medical profession
  • Lloyds Spring School: For students considering a career in finance, but not a degree in finance and the opportunities open to them through UCL.

  • Realising Opportunities: completing this successfully leads to lower entry requirements for top universities

  • Access to Southampton: Completing this successfully lowers the entry requirements for this university, alongside the chance to gain lots of useful insights and skills
  • Sutton Trust: Aims to widen participation of students into top careers such as Law and Medicine
  • K+: Kings College Widening access scheme: completing this successfully lowers the entry requirements for this university, alongside the chance to gain lots of useful insights and skills
  • Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP Mentoring Scheme: Top law firm offering mentors to students interested in the profession.
