Stepping Stones Programme

Stepping Stones is a programme funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA). It is designed to support Year 6 students transitioning into Year 7 in various areas such as:

  • Improving physical wellbeing
  • Improving educational outcomes
  • Developing positive relationships with peers and school staff
  • Improving skills to succeed in school

The programme includes the following activities:

Stepping Stones lessons: Learning sessions for Year 7 students, helping develop their confidence, ability to deal with different social and academic situations and how to be successful.

Peer mentoring: Year 10 Students supporting Year 7 students via one-to-one mentoring during ‘VIP BREAKFAST CLUB’ on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8am to 8:25am.

Community Links:/Mentoring: Support with peer mentoring and Stepping Stones lessons. Linking with the wider community within the Borough. External agencies providing workshops and interventions.

Aspirational and career-based activities: External organisations inspiring Students about different careers and future goals. University visits / trips, tailored for YR 7 students with interactive workshops

School Trips / Residentials: Cultural capital development and personal growth.

Summer School: The summer school provides students with the opportunity to understand expectations for learning, identified key staff that would support the students in year seven and allowed them to become familiar with the school site and routines, the students have assemblies where they are praised and rewarded with opportunities to reflect on the activities they have completed.

We would like to share the attached letter with you all and say thank you for supporting and promoting the Stepping Stones programme over the last two years during tutorial and around the school. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Amana, Alex, Sophia, Vicky and the kitchen staff for their support and dedication to help me run the breakfast club to our students.
